Aerial Lifts
“How Did I Get Up Here and How Do I Get Down?” - Learn the safety issues involved in the operation of an aerial lift as per OSHA Standard 1926.453 and ANSI A92.2. This is not an operator training class, but it will provide the student an “elevated” knowledge in aerial lift safety.
Caught In / Between
“Don’t Get Caught Here!” - This part of the “Focus Four” reviews the hazards of being caught in or between machinery, objects, and trenches on construction sites. Students will learn the most common hazards and discuss how to mitigate these hazards and prevent injuries on the job site.
All students in attendance will receive a certificate of course completion. Students completing all four sections of the “Focus Four” will receive a Focus Four certificate from the AGC.
Confined Space Awareness
“It’s Dark in Here!” - Confined spaces pose a threat to everyone who ventures inside of them. One of the most common mistakes is “taking things for granted”. This one hour class allows the student to learn the basic requirements and precautions to consider before entering into a confined space.
CPR / First Aid / AED
“How To Give a ‘Jump’ Start” - In an emergency minutes count and the sooner First Aid is provided the better chances of recovery. Learn how to help others not only at the jobsite but at your home too. Emergencies can happen at any given moment so “be prepared”. This six hours class will teach you basic first aid, CPR and the use of AED’s.
Electrical Protection
“Turn Up The Juice” - This part of the “Focus Four” reviews the electrical dangers on the job site and how to protect yourself and your co-workers. Topics include the various types of electrical hazards, lock-out / tag-out, fire prevention and control, and OSHA regulations.
All students in attendance will receive a certificate of course completion. Students completing all four sections of the “Focus Four” will receive a Focus Four certificate from the AGC.
Fall Protection
“I’ve Fallen and I Can’t Get Up!” - This section of the “Focus Four” discusses all the ways you can fall and how not to. Students will learn how to protect themselves on ladders, roofs, bridges, and leading edges and why a harness isn’t always your best option.
All students in attendance will receive a certificate of course completion. Students completing all four sections of the “Focus Four” will receive a Focus Four certificate from the AGC.
Forklift
“Let’s Not Meet By Accident” - Forklifts or PIT’s are one of the major causes of accidents in part due to untrained operators. OSHA 1910.178 requires that all forklift operators be trained in order to operate the equipment. This 4 hour course will cover inspections, controls, safety guidelines, and operating. Students successfully completing the course will earn an Operator’s Card to show your commitment to safety.
Health in Construction
“Michael Jackson is Dead and I’m Not Feeling So Good Myself” - Vapors, mists, dusts and liquids may cause physical harm to different parts of your body when you accidentally enter in contact with them. Exposure to silica, asbestos and lead, among others, may cause permanent damage to your health. Working in awkward positions and using some types of tools may affect muscles, tissues, bones and nerves. Learn the basics of how to work in a healthy environment.
Hurricane Prep / Cleanup
“Rock You Like a Hurricane” - Everyone in South Florida is well aware of the destructive effects of a hurricane and the need to prepared before the storm hits. It is a proven fact that more people get injured in clean up operations that by the storm itself. A jobsite is no different than your home, but the preparations are a little more complicated. This class will provide you some insight in what to do before and after the storm.
PPE
“Your Last Line of Defense” - When all other ways to control hazards have been exhausted, Personal Protective Equipment is your last line of defense. Spend an hour learning about basic PPE and why and how to use it. Students will answer such puzzles as why a dust mask may not be the best choice when working in dusty conditions; why a hard hat is necessary when you are not building anything, and why your boss makes you wear a long-sleeved shirt even in the middle of summer.
Rigging
“It’s Not Only For Sailboats” - Rigging involves using the necessary equipment and techniques to lift loads. If not done properly it can cause serious accidents and property damages. This one hour presentation will allow you to understand the basics of rigging and how to lift loads.
Scaffolding
“Working Above Everyone Else” - This one hour class will provide you with useful information so you “do not drop unexpectedly on your friends”. You will learn basic scaffolding safety which will help you to avoid the most common mistakes in the use of this equipment and prevent accidents and injuries.
Struck-By
“He Ain’t Been Right Since. . . “ - Make sure your friends and family aren’t saying this about you by preventing stuck-by accidents. This section of the “Focus Four” reviews all the blunt and sharp instruments on the job site just waiting to cause you harm. Find out how to stay safe so you can return home each night in one piece.

Trenching
"The Buried Truth" - Power lines and swamp gas and snake bites - -oh, my! Trenching is a dangerous operation if the proper rules are not followed. This one hour class will give you a look at the precautions to take when working in or around trenches. Do not become part of the statistics, come out alive!
